When it comes to cruising, getting the best deal sometimes mean booking ahead in advance.

And, ever since the Alaska ships started to reposition to Hawaii after its season each September from my hometown of Vancouver BC, I’ve been patiently waiting for the best deal to come my way.

I’m not very picky…. Princess, Holland America, Carnival, Royal Caribbean or Celebrity…. any one of them will do as long as I get a great rate.

Every single week I’ve been watching out for fare codes like resident rates or last minute sailing discounts, and as of Sunday, I realized that going on a Hawaii cruise from Vancouver this year is not going to happen as each ship on 8 – 13 day itineraries are now sold out.

I would have been so disappointed had I not noticed that Carnival releasing early booking fares for Carnival Spirit’s 12-day repositioning cruise departing Vancouver September 16, 209 to Hawaii. I booked myself two inside cabins at $999.00 per person before taxes because I know that future rates will not be any lower than this.

I had the pleasure of going on board Carnival Spirit during a ship inspection a couple of years ago. It is a beautiful ship and is rated at 4.5 stars, higher than most of the ships doing this route. From Vancouver, it will cruise the Pacific Ocean to Hawaii where it will visit the ports of Hilo, Maui, Kona, Kawaii and Honolulu.
